Pastor Mark began his ministry at Lakeside in December of 1989 just one year after the church was planted.  He is the only pastor to have ever served as the young church had a couple of interim pastors the first year.  He is married to Elaine Osborn Moore where they met at John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas.  They played a four hour game of billiards on Elaine’s pool table.  The reason it took so long was that the table sloped badly to the south!  It was during those four hours that set off a relationship of dating for five years before they were married.

Mark graduated from John Tyler High School, Tyler Junior College, and University of Texas at Tyler; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and Tyndale Seminary.

Elaine graduated from T.K. Gorman High School in Tyler.  She would have graduated from Tyler Junior College but they never would save her a parking place so she wasn’t able to attend class very often.

In 1976 they had a beautiful baby girl born to them.  Lannie graduated from Canton High School, Austin College and is currently a student at Central Europe University working on her MBA degree.  She served as the Executive Director of the Railroad Street Youth Project for seven years in Great Barrington, Massachusetts helping high school students find their “sweet spot” in life. She is now working towards her MBA at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary.

In 1981 Philip Mark arrived to join the Moore family.  He graduated from Canton High School and Dallas Baptist University.  He married Holly “an Aggie” Hoyer and they currently live in Dallas, Texas with their African Lion Hound “Hunter.”    Philip is employed with Apple Computer and Holly by Neiman Marcus.

Mark and Elaine served at First Baptist Church in Dayton, Texas as Minister of Education and Youth; First Baptist Church of Humble, Texas as Minister of Education/Administration/Evangelism and First Baptist Church of Corsicana, Texas as Minister of Education and Administration.  Mark served as pastor of his home church in Tyler for a short period of time.  He learned from that experience that sometimes you just can’t go home!

Living in Canton has been such a blessing to our family.  The people of Canton and Van Zandt County have proven they have such a heart for the things of God.  Pastor Mark firmly believes that we have been blessed to be a blessing to others.  God is an abundant God and He is extravagant in His love for us.  Thinking BIG is such a vital mind set in serving the Lord.  I agree with David Platt when he states:  “I doubt very seriously that I will one day stand before the Lord and have Him say to me; ‘You should have kept more for yourself.”  What a joy it is to give yourself away each and every day for the cause of Christ.
