Missions
Rooted deep within the heart of Lakeside Baptist Church is a desire to see God glorified in all the nations. We believe that every Christian should have an active role in seeing "The Great Commission" fulfilled. From the city of Canton and Van Zandt County to the "uttermost parts of the earth", Lakeside Baptist Church is actively involved in taking Christ's love to the world!
"God Loves Quebec" - June 2007
In June 2007, 37 people went to Quebec Canada to share Christ in two communities that have very little evangelical influence. Throughout the week, we saw how dark and hopeless people's lives were without Christ. The whole week led up to two family Carnivals. Our goal was to build a bridge between two communities and the evangelical churches within the communities by providing an event where Christ was lifted up and the families of Quebec were encouraged. We spent the week creating children’s games, passing out gift bags, and helping people through acts of kindness. The carnival in Rawdon was held at the community center for youth. The family festival in St. Felix was held in a large park. Some of the events in the Family Festival included, food, carnival games, face painting, clowns, door prizes, and a skateboard competition. Each event included a concert by Perspective, Lakeside’s praise band, and Insight, the youth choir. Both Family Festivals far exceeded our expectations. Francois Verschelden, pastor of Living Rock Bible Church in St. Felix, Quebec said, “It's the most amazing outreach we have ever done. Everyone in the church is so excited with what the Lord can do through loving people”. Overall, the people who went on this trip were faced afresh with the reality of Christ’s love for all people and it’s an honor to know He used us to make Himself shine brighter in the province of Quebec.
