Geico or God

One of the latest insurance commercials says you know how to save 15% in 15 minutes or less.  You have heard this unless you have been living under a rock.  Well, you know that many countries in this world are in chaos and turmoil unless you have been living under that rock!  This chaos seems to be moving not only into Washington D.C. but into several of our state capitols.  Then add rising gasoline prices, food prices and every day cost of living expense and we wonder where will it all end?  It seems that “mayhem” is happening in every area of the world.

Depression and discouragement quickly set in if we let it in to our daily thought processes.  We can get low and downtrodden if we let ourselves go there.  But we don’t have to go there you know?  We can pray for the Middle East chaos and we can make sure we know the facts about the problems in America, but we don’t have to let it affect us daily.  “Does it take two to tango?”  Yes! So don’t be a willing participant in the negativity happening all round us.  The Psalmist said it best, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.”  Psalm 19:14

We all know very well that it is very natural to just sit and condemn and judge what others are doing.  But again, we do not have to participate in “chucking” poisonous thoughts and words towards the efforts of others. The Psalmist warned us to watch our words and heart condition before we blame everyone else.  Abraham Lincoln never told a lie, but that doesn’t mean we must be so open with our words if they crush another’s spirit.  God desires for His children to use our tongues to edify and encourage.  Since all of us live in this same desperate world, everyone needs to hear the sweet sounds of peace and calm then people will be open to the truth.

So instead of squealing all the way home about how sinful this old world has become, why not choose to bring light where darkness loves to hide?  We are called to be different.  The Bible calls it being holy, but very few of us like being tagged with that name.  Whatever you call it, be God’s man or woman in the midst of mayhem and we just might see more than 15% of the world’s population come to Jesus.  You might not recognize Sidney, but you certainly want to have Jesus recognize you on that great and glorious day to come.  Being born again is so much more than having fire insurance.  God desires for all men to know Him and for us to make Him known.  Knowing Jesus does come with the best benefits on earth and in eternity.  Make your life more than a catchy commercial. Make your life count for Jesus.
