
Volunteer: Our Night to Give Back













Night to Shine requires the help of hundreds of VOLUNTEERS and is a wonderful way to connect with and serve our community of people with special needs! From serving as an Honored Guest’s Buddy, keeping the Karaoke Room fun and energetic, to helping plate and serve food, or totally behind the scenes with setup or teardown, there is something for everyone.


VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

At least 14 years old by February 13, 2026

Pass a background check*

Attend one in-person training
*Volunteers under age 18 are exempt from background checks.

Over 300 volunteers are needed! Below is a list of areas/roles we need, and brief descriptions of what some of those entail.

No prior experience with individuals with special needs is necessary!

Volunteers do not have to be members of Lakeside Baptist Church. We always depend on the partnership of individuals and other churches in the community to help with this very special event.

Buddy
Buddies are a crucial part of NTS! Buddy Volunteers are a personal escort and friend for the night to their assigned Honored Guest. Helping them navigate areas, assisting with whatever needs they have and to make sure they have the best night of their lives! Note: Minors will not be assigned as Buddies to our Honored Guests unless they are family/friend of the Guest and requests them on their Guest Registration Form.
Corsage & Boutonniere Pinner
Buddies are a crucial part of NTS! Buddy Volunteers are a personal escort and friend for the night to their assigned Honored Guest. Helping them navigate areas, assisting with whatever needs they have and to make sure they have the best night of their lives! Note: Minors will not be assigned as Buddies to our Honored Guests unless they are family/friend of the Guest and requests them on their Guest Registration Form.
Greeter/Floater / Awareness Team
There to jump in and help where needed. The eyes and ears to make sure this event is the best night for all our Honored Guests!
Beautician: Hair/Makeup/Shoeshine
If you have training in Cosmetology or are a Hair Stylist, perfect! But no formal experience is necessary, just a desire and keen eye for making someone look and feel like royalty!
Room Helpers / Attendants
Photography | Arts & Crafts | Quiet Room | Sensory Room | Karaoke | Games Are the areas and rooms for Honored Guests to participate in. Activity Room volunteers will help facilitate and assist as needed with the room's particular theme.
Food Service
From serving dinner, plating up desserts, stocking snacks, to all other essential kitchen/dining tasks.
Bathroom Attendant
A humble, but mighty role. A superhero in keeping the restrooms organized, stocked and tidy.
Medical
Volunteers on our Medical Team are reserved for those who are certified EMS/EMT or practicing doctor or nurses.
Event Prep or Tear Down
Many behind the scenes hands are needed to prepare for a elaborate event like this. Set-up & decorating will be February 9th-12th. We'll need helpers with availability some or all of that week to assist in preparations. Tear down will begin immediately after the event and on Saturday.
